Steve Bass joins Irizar UK
Highly respected service engineer Steve Bass has joined Irizar UK as it develops a comprehensive coach aftersales operation.
Steve’s appointment creates a team of three mobile service technicians, each serving areas which stretch from Scotland to the South Coast, adding options to the existing DAF service network and specialist service technicians for major ancillaries, such as air conditioning.
“I’ve forged a lot of great friendships with operators and suppliers over the years,” says Steve. “I really enjoy the face-to-face nature of a mobile service role, getting to know the customers and knowing that, by getting coaches swiftly back into service, I am making a real difference to their businesses.
“I’m looking forward to seeing old faces and new, and doing something different each day. I know it will be a learning curve, but I am already familiar with the DAF PACCAR engines and most driveline products in modern coaches.
“In my career, I’ve seen a lot of positive changes in modern coaches. Some say they are more complex, but actually the big change has been the electronic controls. These days, understanding the electronic tools, such as laptop diagnostic programmes, has become as important as understanding the mechanical systems.”

Married with two children, Steve lives near Hinckley, Leicesterhsire.
