Second Irizar Integral for Barnes Coaches
Having run an Irizar i6 Integral since last year, Barnes Coaches of Swindon has bought another – this time with an extra axle.
“It’s our first Irizar Integral tri-axle,” said Operations Manager Luke Barnes. “The 12.9-metre two-axle coach we took last year has performed very well. And I’m happy to report the tri-axle has also been faultless.”
Barnes Coaches run seven tri-axle 61-seaters, preferring them to 70-seat vehicles for the extra legroom. The tri-axle also ensures there are no weight issues, said Luke: “The i6 tri-axle is used on everything from local contracts to European work. It’s well liked by customers and drivers.”
The new, 14.07-metre coach is powered by DAF’s MX13, 462bhp engine, and has been specified with a wood-effect floor, toilet, seats with footrests, seatback tables and magazine nets, a reversing camera, and built-in vacuum cleaner.
Barnes Coaches, with no fewer than four members of the family at the helm, is enjoying a purple patch this spring, its 36 vehicles keeping busy with a broad range of work.
