Mearns adds i6 Integral to fleet
Glasgow-based operator Mearns Exclusive Travel has added an Integral Irizar i6 to its mixed fleet of tour vehicles.
The Scots operator which specialises in running vehicles for major tour operators has a wide-ranging mixture of vehicle marques, including German, Dutch and Spanish coaches, including a number of Irizar PBs. So Director Brian Murray says the selection of the i6 Integral was more to do with specification.
“They are well specified coaches,” he says. “We already run some DAF-engined coaches so the Irizar will fit into the fleet.”
Brian said he was also very pleased with the deal he got from Irizar UK’s Director, Steve O’Neill: “Though the coach hasn’t really been set to work yet. Ironically, its first tour will be down to Spain, where Irizar is based.”
Mearns runs around 22 full-size coaches, none of which are older than five years, for a large number of domestic and inbound tour operators including Trafalgar, David Urquhart, Glenton and Insight. Many are in the customer’s livery. The new Irizar i6 is destined to take its first trip for Tour Design.
The 57-seat i6 is a 13.8-metre integral coach engine with DAF’s MX300 engine and has a ZF AS-Tronic auto-shift gearbox. Mearns has specified it with PB style half leather seating, toilet, reversing camera, and for the driver, Travel Pilot satellite navigation and a Parrot Bluetooth hands-free phone system.
