Irizar i6 Integral makes way to Meadway
Meadway Private Hire (Birmingham) Ltd has just taken delivery of its first Irizar coach: a 12.9-metre, 57-seat i6 Integral.
Director Christopher Watson explained that the coach was chosen because it offered an excellent all-round package at a competitive price, with 57 seats plus a toilet and ample luggage capacity on two axles. “It’s got superb ‘kerb appeal’,” he adds.
“The Irizar was sold to us by Stuart Smithson. We have a long-standing relationship with him.”
The Irizar i6 Integral is named after Christopher’s uncle: Albert Jeys; who founded the Meadway operation in 1966.
Meadway now runs 12 coaches, operating a mixture of private hire, corporate and schools work, together with third-party tours in the UK and Europe.
The new Irizar Integral will operate primarily on tour and corporate jobs, although it will also be expected to handle schools work as required.
Its specification reflects these varying demands and includes a centre toilet, Bosch Smart Series audio, Actia video with two monitors, full carpeting, and a vacuum cleaner.
The driveline is an economical DAF MX-271 370 hp engine driving through a ZF EcoLife automatic transmission.
Further Irizar Integral products are scheduled to join the fleet later in the year.
