Barnes Coaches of Swindon has taken delivery of a new coach from Irizar UK, the latest addition takes the form of a 14m super-high Irizar Integral, the addition forms part of the company’s annual fleet investment.
The tri-axle features 61 passenger seats trimmed with moquette, synthetic leather headrests, laterals, and piping. Each seat also features magazine nets, seatback tables, and multi-position footrests. USB charging points are supplied throughout the saloon to allow passengers the opportunity to charge their devices on route.
Speaking on the new coach, Luke Barnes, Director of Barnes Coaches said, “We find the Irizar i6 14 metre coaches to be superb vehicles for undertaking a variety of work throughout Europe due to their large luggage capacity and increased height over other 14 metre coaches on the market. That combined with good customer comfort makes this an ideal vehicle in our fleet.”
Leather driver and courier seats have been chosen for additional comfort and durability, the coach has a vacuum cleaner system installed to enable the highest standards of cleanliness to be maintained when on duty.
Entertainment is provided by the Bosch Smart Series audio visual system and Actia DVD player supplied with 2 monitors.
The new coach is fully compliant with PSVAR standards, featuring a Masat semi-automatic wheel chair lift above the rear axle to maximise, luggage capacity along with Hanover destination signage.
Other refinements include an onboard drinks machine, lower aisle coloured lighting, and a washroom located in the central stairwell.
The already handsome appearance of the i6 Integral is further enhanced by black-tint windows and factory-applied vinyls.
The new tri-axle features DAF’s powerful 11-litre coach engine, the MX-11 330, with an output of 449hp and drives through the sophisticated ZF Ecolife Coachline fully-automatic transmission.
Barnes Coaches was established over 100 years ago by the Barnes family, and current directors Matt and Luke are the fourth generation to run it.
This is the 13th Irizar Integral to join the fleet at Barnes Coaches and is named for Director Lukes’s daughter, Astrid. The new coach’s interior was designed by Luke’s son Sebastian whilst visiting the Irizar factory near San Sebastian last year.
