Double top for Dartline i6s
Devon-based Dartline Coaches is so impressed with its two new i6 Integral coaches the model is top of its shopping list for next year.
The 12.9-metre, two-axle 53-seaters were selected by Dartline Director David Hounslow (pictured) after he’d weighed up the competition: “When I’m travelling around, I always look at the coaches I see. I always liked the PB, which manages to look modern without getting dated, and the i6 is from the same mould,” said David. “And it’s a very driver orientated coach.”
The i6s delivered for this summer have DAF PACCAR’s MX11 engine to Euro 6, a centre-sunken toilet, air conditioning by Irizar-owned Hispacold, Bosch Classic Line audio, DVD with twin monitors, CCTV, seatback tables and a drinks machine. Dartline has opted for the ZF Ecolife fully-auto gearbox: “It’s economical because there’s little to go wrong,” David explains.
Dartline was established in 1987, with David one of the original directors. It runs a fleet of 62 vehicles, which includes 15 front-line touring coaches run on contracted tours and general private hire work. The remainder of the fleet includes school transport and a number of service buses, run on supported local services.
