Whitestar returns to Irizar for 70-seat i4 Integral
Whitestar Luxury Travel has taken delivery of the second new Irizar coach to go into service with the Scottish operator this year. The 12.9-metre i4 Integral features 70 seats: arranged in an innovative 2 + 3 format to maximise capacity without compromising comfort; supplied by British company PPS Seating.
Destined to work on school contracts and wedding hires, the Whitestar i4 Integral’s specification puts the emphasis on safety, with all-age seatbelts installed, along with safety hammers with retractable wiring, and a reversing camera.
The driveline features an advanced DAF six-cylinder MX-11 271 369 hp engine and a sophisticated ZF Ecolife automatic transmission. Managing director Brian McGowan describes the DAF engines as “very reliable.”
Whitestar’s i4 Integral joins six other coaches from the Spanish manufacturer on the 18-strong Glasgow-based fleet, replacing a vehicle built by another manufacturer.
Brian McGowan said: “We are over the moon with the vehicle, which is living up to the excellent reputation that Irizar has built up with us over the five years that it has been active in the UK coach market. We will maintain the coach ourselves, and it is likely to stay on the fleet for eight years.”
