Irizar Tri-axle goes into Buzzlines fleet

Kent operator Buzzlines Travel says the 13.8-metre tri-axle it is running this summer won’t be the last integral it buys from Irizar UK.

“The customer reaction has been fantastic,” said Operations Director Nigel Busbridge. “As they board, our passengers have, literally, said ‘Wow.’ Although I have to admit, we only bought this first one because it was the right coach at the right time.”

Nigel said Buzzlines had made the decision to go for 14-metre tri-axles as a standard tourer, partly for the extra luggage capacity but also so it could get the passenger legroom it wanted: “We saw Irizar UK had this coach in stock with 61 seats, went to see it, and persuaded Irizar UK to down-seat it to 53 seats.buzzlines i6

“It was already very well specified, with headphone sockets to every seat and 240V via a 3Kw inverter. But we had the luggage racks rebuilt so all the passenger-controlled ventilation and lights were directly over the new seating pattern,” said Nigel.

“They did a great job on the modification and I have to say we have started to love the dark blue metallic it was painted in so much, we’ve adopted it for other deliveries.”

In its first week, the coach has been touring: “We have been extremely pleased with it and the seat spacing is perfect – even six-footers find they have plenty of legroom. We will definitely have more of these i6s for next season.”

The coach has the DAF-Paccar MX340, 462bhp engine with ZF AS-Tronic autoshift gearbox. It has PB seats with middle armrests and magazine nets, remote alarm system, DVD system, on-board vacuum cleaner, toilet with hand dryer and high-powered Xenon headlamps. It joins a fleet of 21 vehicles at Buzzlines’ Lympne headquarters.
