New Irizar Integrals added at Passenger Plus

Two new Irizar i6S integrals have joined the expanding fleet at Passenger Plus, the Surrey-based corporate commuter specialist. The 10.8-metre coaches are among the first Irizar integrals in the UK to use the new DAF Euro VI C engines.

Finished in the colours of a contracted client, the new coaches operate one of the shortest coaching routes in the world: a distance of just 1.3 miles between the client company’s UK headquarters and the nearest railway station. Each coach completes the journey 30 times a day.

One of the coaches features a wheelchair lift, and both have a job-specific specification, with 45 seats, no toilet, and destination signs to the front, side and rear, along with an animated safety video which is actuated when the coaches cross predetermined geo-fence boundaries.

Passenger amenities include Bosch Smart Series Audio, Actia video, USB charging points, and seating trimmed with synthetic leather.

Extensive external LED marker lighting ensures the coaches will stand out on the darkest of nights.

External and internal CCTV cameras are fitted, and Passenger Plus can remotely monitor live images or retrieve historic footage while the coach is on the move.

Electronic passenger counters monitor usage on every journey, as well as departure times to prove performance against SLAs and visitor passes can be scanned on boarding.

Identical drivelines on both coaches feature the latest Euro VI C DAF MX-11 270 367 hp engines driving through ZF EcoLife automatic transmissions.

Managing Director Mark Dury said: “The focus of our work remains in the corporate commuter market, but we now also have increasing demand for private hire services, often from the same client base.

“We are seeing an increasing interest in accessible transportation from our clients: they look either for buses with low-floors or coaches with wheelchair lifts.

“Having the latest engine specification is important for us with the increasing focus on exhaust emissions in London. We part-exchanged an earlier Irizar Integral against the new pair, which was the final Euro V vehicle in our fleet amking us now 100 per cent ULEZ compliant.

“We choose Irizar coaches primarily for the superb aftersales back-up. In addition, the coaches look the part and offer good value for money: the passengers love them.

“The recent appointment of local company City Circle as an Irizar agent makes the Irizar Integral an even more attractive proposition for us. They maintain and service the vehicles, which we will keep on the fleet for four years.”
