Irizar UK celebrates 600 coaches with Nigel and Kim Tours

A new Irizar Integral i6s Efficient coach has gone into service with returning Irizar customer Nigel and Kim Tours of Westbury. This delivery took the total number of Irizar Integral coaches supplied to the UK to 600.

The 14-meter, 42-seat tri-axle coach replaces a 2015 Irizar Integral i6 as the company’s only coach.

The new Integral is finished to a very high standard. Passenger seat back and cushion laterals are leather-trimmed, and the seats are fitted with T-type footrests, magazine holders, and seat-back tables. Other passenger refinements include blue aisle lights, USB charging points, and a rear servery supplied by AD Coach Systems.

The already handsome appearance of the i6s Efficient is further enhanced by extra-tint windows, and a stunning livery of graduated paint effect with chrome vinyls, and exterior LED lighting.

The coach is propelled by DAFs powerful MX13 390kw, OBD-E euro 6 engine, with an output of 530hp, coupled to ZF’s sophisticated Traxon, 12-speed automated gearbox.

Launched in 2022, the i6S Efficient is based on the Integral platform and sees a reduction of 900kgs, achieved mainly through a transition to using high-strength steel and modern composites, an optimised layout rebalances the vehicle and also helps achieve greater internal space.

Aerodynamic coefficient has seen a reduction of 30% and combined with the weight saving and other adjustments results in a 13% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

These benefits come soon after those made in 2018, where improvements in the DAF/ZF driveline, overall reduction in weight and the power on demand electrification of key componentry resulted in up to 6% improvement in fuel consumption. Operating costs were also reduced through lower R&M processes, including increases to the oil and coolant change intervals and DPF cleaning interval.
