Golden Boy takes second i6 Integral
Hertfordshire-based Golden Boy Coaches has added another i6 Integral coach to its fleet.
“There have been no dramas at all with our first i6 from Irizar UK,” said Paul Murdoch. “When we bought it, after a trip to the factory in Spain, we realised it was fantastic value for money and would help us keep our fleet age low. Currently, the fleet age is 3 ½ years average.”
Paul said the DAF-powered vehicle has delivered consistent economy – which has only improved as the engine had bedded in – and is a hit with passengers.
“We’ve had nothing but positive feedback,” he said. “So getting a second was not a difficult decision.”
The new i6 has 53 upgraded PB seats, air conditioning and a built-in vacuum cleaner. It has DAF’s new MX300 engine driving through a ZF AS-Tronic auto-change gearbox.
Golden Boy’s sister company is GB Fleet Maintenance, which works out of the purpose-built yard in Hoddesdon, and is an approved service agent for Irizar, among other vehicle marques: “Apart from inspections every five weeks and regular servicing, the i6 has needed nothing,” said Paul.
