First Irizar i4 impresses at Baileys

Baileys Coaches’ Director Darren Gale has always had an interest in Irizar’s range, but only at the end of 2015 did he finally bring one in to the fleet.

“They’re a stylish coach,” explains Darren. “I like the design and the interiors are smart. First impressions are really positive from both passengers and drivers. Of course, I’ve taken it out myself and it’s a lovely drive.”baileys-three-quarter-300px

Now settled in to Baileys’ fleet of 16 coaches, the i4 is being deployed across the firm’s varied school, private hire, tours and corporate travel operation.

The coach has Buckingham seats, Hispacold air con and a DVD system. Driver’s benefit from a reversing camera and, in another first for Baileys, the coach has a lane departure warning system, that sends vibrations through the driver’s seat if the coach drifts into another lane in the carriageway without the indicator being on.

“The drivers joke it’s like a massage chair,” says Darren. “But it’s a useful piece of kit I think. On motorways, particularly, it’s a sound safety addition.

“Also impressive is the spacious feel of the cabin, especially for a 70-seat vehicle. It means, on the three-plus-two layout, you don’t feel crammed in as is often the case.”

The coach is powered by DAF’s MX11 326hp engine with ZF’s Ecolife fully automatic transmission.
