Aftercare ‘superb’ says DAF devotee Thomas of Rhondda

A new i6 Integral joins Thomas of Rhondda’s first, bought last year, following its experience of ‘superb’ aftersales service.


The 50-vehicle South Wales operator has specified the 12.9-metre coach with 53 i6 Plus seats with seatback tables, toilet, drinks machine and driver’s bunk. Passengers have USB sockets to recharge mobile devices, and a twin-screen DVD system.


“Around 75% of our work is in mainland Europe, so the back-up is extremely important to us,” said Ian Thomas, a Director at Thomas of Rhondda. “With the combination of DAF Aid and Irizar UK, we get superb service – absolutely brilliant.”


Along with the rest of its 16 front-line coaches, Thomas has specified a fully-automatic gearbox – the ZF Ecolife, which this year has a higher torque capacity so it can be matched with more powerful engines.


“We’ve been very happy with the 2016 Irizar i6 Integral, which has been excellent value for money. It’s a very eye-catching vehicle and is well-liked by our drivers. But, as I say, the aftercare is nothing short of amazing.”
