Irizar Integrals kick off with KB Coaches
Two new Irizar i6 Integrals have joined the 20-strong fleet of KB Coaches Ltd in Eastington, near Stonehouse in Gloucestershire.
One is a tri-axle 14.07-metre vehicle with 57 seats. As the fleet flagship, it does duty as team coach for local football clubs including Forest Green Rovers, Gloucester City and Weston-super-Mare AFC, and is fitted out to a very high standard with i6 plus seating, tables, USB charging points, wood-effect flooring and carpeting.
Passenger amenities include three-point seat belts, dark-tint windows, Bosch EQ audio and DAB radio and Actia DVD with a second monitor. There is an electric hand dryer in the central sunken toilet.
The driver and courier seat are both leather upholstered.
It is joined on the fleet by a second i6 Integral, this one a 12.2-metre, two-axle. This has 57 seats, fitted with seat-back tables.
It too is equipped to a high standard with a wood-effect floor, three-point seat belts, dark-tint windows, drinks machine, Bosch EQ audio and DAB radio and Actia DVD with a second monitor, and an electric hand dryer in the central sunken toilet.
Driver and courier benefit from leather upholstered seating, and a leather multi-function steering wheel is fitted.
A powerful DAF MX-13 340 462 hp engine drives a ZF AS-Tronic automated manual transmission on the tri-axle, while the lighter two-axle has an economical MX-11 271 369 hp engine coupled to a fully-automatic six-speed EcoLife transmission.
KB Coaches director Andy Francis said the i6 Integrals were his first Irizars, but he had had previous good experiences with coaches fitted with the DAF – ZF driveline, and expected the coaches, which will be maintained in-house, to remain on the fleet for four to five years.
The company has been established for some 35 years and specialises in private hire and schools work.
