Irizar Integral makes debut at New Bharat coaches
The first-ever Irizar Integral coach to join the fleet has gone into service with Southall’s New Bharat Coaches.
Director Tajinder Dhaliwal said the Irizar i6S Integral tri-axle was chosen because it could seat 61 passengers in comfort and retain a large luggage capacity.
“This is very important for us, over 40 per cent of our business is incoming tourist groups,” he says.
“We were also interested to try the Irizar-DAF combination.”
The 14.07-metre coach has a versatile specification, including front destination signage and luxurious i6+ seating with seat-back tables and moquette trimming. There is a centre toilet and wood-effect floor, with black-tint windows providing a final touch of class.
Entertainment is provided by a Bosch Smart Series audio system and twin-monitor Actia video.
Safety equipment includes three-point seat-belts, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning Systems.
An economical DAF MX-11 330 449 hp engine drives through an advanced ZF EcoLife automatic transmission.
The Irizar i6S Integral replaces an older coach from another manufacturer on the 20-strong fleet.
“We plan on keeping it for between five to seven years,” Mr. Dhaliwal reports. “All our vehicles are now Euro VI, and we have nothing over five years old. We maintain our complete fleet in house and have an eight-acre site at Heston Services on the M4.”
New Bharat Coaches has been in operation for 45 years, with Mr Dhaliwal becoming involved 25 years ago, and is now one of the leading coach companies in west London. It runs a diverse coaching operation with vehicles ranging from 22-seaters to an 94-seat double-decker, including incoming tourism, schools and private hire services. It also runs a network of express scheduled travel services linking west London and Slough with Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Derby, Sheffield, and Bradford,
