Irizar i8 integral flagship now available with wheelchair accessibility option
Irizar’s flagship tri-axle i8 Integral coach can now be specified with a wheelchair lift: opening a new world of luxury travel to people with restricted mobility.
The i8 Integral is now firmly established as the first choice for operators wanting a flagship coach to serve their most prestigious contracts. It combines distinctive style and a luxurious and customisable interior, with huge luggage capacity and the very latest in driveline technology from market-leaders DAF and ZF.
Irizar (UK)’s managing director Steve O’Neil, said: “We have had requests from operators serving specialist customers such as cruise lines for a vehicle which combined absolute luxury with accessibility.
“We have engineered the new Masats KS8 underfloor lift to neatly fit over the rear axles of our range-topping i8 Integral coach. At the same time, we have developed a solution that allows the on-board WC to be repositioned to the rear of the coach, which liberates even more luggage space.”
The first two wheelchair-accessible i8 Integrals are already in service with leading coach operator Ellisons, and Mr O’Neil reports considerable interest from other Irizar customers who want to make their flagship luxury transport offering accessible to all.
The electro-hydraulic KS8 lifts offers a safe and stable lifting surface, with an automatic bridging device to make access to the vehicle easier. Easy to install, it requires only 24v supply, and reaches up to 1882mm.
