i8 is in the premiership, says Stewarts
Reading-based operator Stewarts Coaches heaped praise upon the Irizar i8 Integral coach delivered recently.
The 34-seat VIP vehicle which has now been customised for its football team work is a 14.07-metre with DAF’s award-winning MX13 engine and the ZF AS-Tronic auto-shift gearbox. It has all the refinements of this premier vehicle, including the MMI touchscreen control, flat floor, toilet, DVD system, reversing alarm and camera and multi-function steering wheel controls, plus a host of electronic safety aids.
“It has exceeded all our expectations,” said Stewarts Group CEO Andy Cotton. “It’s a real flagship for this business, and our passengers and drivers both love it.
“In terms of the ergonomics of the coach, they are on another level, especially the dashboard and driver controls. On the road, you can’t even feel the gearshifts, and the i8 has real presence,” he said.
The coach is tabled throughout, with 240-Volt sockets to every table, USB sockets and induction-charging stations for mobile phones. It has a rear kitchen with oven, microwave and fridge, inverter for all the mains power supply and top-quality Corian worktops. LED mood lighting has been installed in the racks and floor.
Stewarts Coaches and its subsidiary company Woods of Leicester are past customers of Irizar UK, having bought 24 Irizar Integral coaches to date, some of which were used in filming of the last series of The Apprentice on BBC TV.
“This vehicle really ticks all the boxes. We have been hugely impressed, and I don’t say that lightly,” said Andy.
