Barnes re-orders Irizar Integrals
Two new Irizar i6 Integral coaches have joined the Wiltshire-based fleet of Barnes Coaches as it moves its fleet towards being Euro 6 emissions standard by 2019.
A 14-metre tri-axle 61-seater and a 12.2-metre 49-seater join two Irizar Integrals bought previously: “We love the way the i6 looks and our drivers and customers also love them,” said Matt Barnes, a Director.
Last year’s intake included a 12.9-metre i6 and Barnes’ first 61-seat tri-axle, almost identical to the new one. These large coaches with their high seating capacity are a favourite with the operator, which has twelve 60-plus seaters in total.
The latest has all the usual Irizar Integral refinements including twin-screen DVD system, reversing camera, seats with seatback tables and magazine nets, and a raft of electronic safety aids. Additionally, Barnes has added a built-in vacuum cleaner. The 12.2-metre coach is similarly specified.
Barnes Coaches – in operation a remarkable 97 years – operates 30 full-size vehicles, mainly on private and corporate hire, contracts, its own tour programme, day trips and concert travel. The aim of moving the entire fleet to Euro 6 will enable it to meet London’s ULEZ restrictions.
